Vassar - Main Building Interiors
Richard Turlington Architects Inc prepared the design development and construction documents for the main lobby renovation at the College. This was a fast-tracked project and the renovation was done over the summer break. The renovation of Vassar’s first building, circa 1861, to upgrade the original basement to a new main lobby and orientation center was completed in 15 weeks. The project consisted of reconnecting the main admissions building to the student union, reshaping the existing low ceiling with new groin vaults, integrating all spaces leading to the main lobby, and enlarging the opening of the main stair leading from the dormitories above.
