Connecticut Science Center
Serving as the Associate Architect for Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects for this LEED Gold rated 154,000 square foot facility, we were responsible for design development, preparing the contract documents, and providing construction administration services. The project included four educational laboratories and 40,000 square feet of interactive science and technology-based exhibits. The construction cost was approximately $120M and was completed January 2008. This project was fast-tracked with a limited budget, it was politically charged due to partial State funding sources, it was technically, environmentally and mechanically challenging. The building is part of Hartford's downtown revitalization program.
This was a challenging project because of the technical complexities involved with integrating a prefabricated metal panel siding system over a structural steel frame that houses many different user groups and many different types of separations.
